Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Emerges as APC’s New National Chairman

In a significant development, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has been appointed as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), replacing Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down due to health issues.

Prof. Yilwatda, born on August 8, 1968, in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, is a technocrat and Politician with a strong background in Engineering, Governance reform, and Party Politics. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, a Master’s degree in Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a PhD in Digital Systems Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Prof. Yilwatda’s Academic and Professional credentials are impressive, with International Training in e-governance from the United Nations University in Macau, China. His expertise in Digital Systems Engineering and Governance reform is expected to bring a new level of strategic thinking to the APC.
A Look at His Political Career
Prof. Yilwatda has been actively involved in politics, serving as the coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign in Plateau State during the 2023 general elections. He also contested the Governorship election under the APC platform, demonstrating his commitment to the party’s ideals.
Prof. Yilwatda maintains a strong alliance with former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong. He was widely tipped for a Ministerial position following Lalong’s move to the Senate and was later nominated as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation before being named the party’s substantive chairman.
