Police Nab Four Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearms in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and recovered multiple firearms during a coordinated operation in Uromi, in a renewed push against violent crime.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of March 24, 2026, following actionable intelligence.

Those arrested were identified as Solomon Oboigbe (27), Fidelis Omale (26), Julius Oseyomon (64), and Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), all residents of different parts of Uromi.

The Police disclosed that four English pump-action guns, nine live cartridges, and three expended cartridges were recovered from the suspects during the operation.

Preliminary investigations, as gathered by Global Mirror News, indicate that the suspects are members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity and allegedly acquired the firearms through illegal channels.

Describing the operation as a major breakthrough, the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying the crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities, including the ongoing recovery of illegal arms across the State.

Global Mirror News further gathered that the suspects have since been arraigned in court after the conclusion of preliminary investigations.

The Command also called on residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, assuring that all reports would be handled with strict confidentiality.

Police authorities reiterated their resolve to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across Edo State.
