Police Hunt Teenager Over Alleged Domestic Attack on Husband

The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old woman, Khadija Jamilu, over the alleged attack on her husband during a domestic dispute in Potiskum Local Government Area of the State.
Police authorities said the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, February 6, 2026, when the suspect allegedly assaulted her 25-year-old husband with a knife, leaving him seriously injured.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed that operatives attached to the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters responded to a distress call at about 3:00 am after the attack was reported.
According to the Police, the injured man was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital in Potiskum for emergency care and was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare, Bauchi State, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Abdulkarim said the suspect fled the scene after the incident, adding that security operatives are making concerted efforts to track her down, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Emmanuel Ado, cautioned against violence in marital relationships, stressing that marriage should be anchored on mutual respect, patience, tolerance and understanding.
“Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse or humiliation,” the Police Commissioner said, urging couples to embrace dialogue, anger management and proper counselling when faced with marital challenges.
He further advised couples to involve family members, religious leaders or trusted mediators when conflicts escalate, warning that resolving disputes through violence often results in irreversible consequences.
The Police also called on community leaders, families and other stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns among youths on healthy relationships, conflict resolution and the responsibilities of marriage.
