Police Foil Planned Night Attack on Oyo Community, Kill Two Suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has foiled a planned attack on Elebe village in Aleniboro, via the Irawo Mine Area of the State, neutralising two suspected bandits in the process.
According to information gathered by Global Mirror News, the operation followed credible intelligence from a resident who alerted security operatives to the presence of about 10 armed men allegedly hiding in a farm settlement within the village. The suspects were said to be preparing to launch an attack under the cover of darkness.
Police sources disclosed that the armed men were reportedly equipped with two AK-47 rifles, single-barrel guns and locally made pistols.
Upon receiving the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Tede Division promptly informed the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, who immediately ordered the deployment of additional operational assets to the area.
In a statement issued by the command, Officers, working in collaboration with members of the Agbekoya group and local hunters in Aleniboro, advanced to the identified hideout.
“On sighting the advancing security operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, resulting in a gun duel. In the course of the exchange, two of the bandits were neutralised, while others escaped with suspected bullet wounds,” the statement read.
A reinforcement patrol team subsequently carried out a combing operation in the surrounding bush to flush out fleeing suspects.
Items recovered from the scene included a locally made pistol, one empty cartridge, two live cartridges, two expended 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition shells, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, two mobile phones and a bottle containing a substance believed to be a mixed drink.
The Police command confirmed that the area has since been secured, while surveillance and bush-combing operations remain ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent any further threat to Elebe village and neighbouring communities.
The Commissioner of Police also commended the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for sustained logistical support and operational backing.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies, as community cooperation remains critical in combating criminal activities.
