Owolabi Honoured as Ogun LGSC Celebrates His Meritorious Exit

The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has celebrated the retirement of Mr. Babatunde Adebola Owolabi with heartfelt commendations, describing his decades of service as exemplary and impactful to grassroots administration across Ogun State.
The valedictory ceremony, held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Commission’s headquarters in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, drew top Government Officials and staff who gathered to honour the outgoing Director of Management Services.

In her tribute, the Chairman of the Commission, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, praised Mr. Owolabi’s distinguished career, noting that he exemplified discipline, humility and professionalism throughout his years of service. She said his calm disposition, respect for colleagues and strong work ethic earned him admiration at all levels within the Local Government Service.
According to her, “He is leaving when the ovation is loudest. Mr. Owolabi has been a reference point in the Local Government Service and in Ogun State. His contributions to strengthening administrative structures in several Local Government Areas are well recognised, and the Commission will always value his experience.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, FNSE, also spoke glowingly of the retiring officer, describing him as a dependable and exemplary administrator who consistently demonstrated integrity and competence. She appreciated his cooperation and respect throughout their working relationship, noting that he played a significant role in building a harmonious and productive management team.
She further highlighted his impressive career trajectory, which saw him serve as an Administrative Officer and later as Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in multiple local Government Areas before his deployment to the Commission. According to her, his professional conduct and dedication remained consistent across all his postings.

In his emotional farewell remarks, Mr. Owolabi expressed deep gratitude to the Chairman, Full-time Commissioners, Permanent Secretary, Directors, Assistant Directors and all staff of the Commission for the honour bestowed upon him. He said the well-organised valedictory event, put together within a short time despite limited resources touched him deeply and would remain a lasting memory.
He thanked all colleagues who supported him throughout his service years, describing the Local Government Service as a family that shaped his professional values and strengthened his devotion to public service.

The ceremony was well attended by the Chairman of the Commission, Full-time Commissioners, the Permanent Secretary, Directors, representatives of the Body of HOLGAs, Deputy Directors and other staff members, who turned out in large numbers to celebrate Mr. Owolabi’s meritorious exit.
