Outrage as Man Allegedly Attempts to Lure Child Hawker with N1,000 in Viral Video

A disturbing incident captured in a viral video has triggered widespread outrage after a man was allegedly caught attempting to lure a young girl hawking avocados with ₦1,000 for inappropriate purposes.
The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, was shared by a content creator identified as LordZeus, who confronted the suspect over the alleged act.
In the video, the man denied wrongdoing and claimed to be the child’s father. However, the girl refuted his claim, stating that he approached her and asked her to follow him to a secluded location, promising to give her money.
According to the child, the man allegedly tried to persuade her by bringing out ₦1,000 after she initially refused his request.
The confrontation drew reactions from bystanders at the scene, some of whom appealed for leniency, alleging that the suspect was mentally unstable.
Their defence, however, sparked further criticism, with many questioning the justification of such behaviour regardless of the individual’s condition.
Reacting in the video, LordZeus condemned the act and challenged the excuse of mental instability, stressing the need for accountability when it comes to the safety of minors.
The incident has also reignited concerns over the vulnerability of child hawkers, particularly young girls, who are often exposed to various forms of exploitation and abuse while working on the streets.
He urged parents and guardians to exercise caution, warning against allowing underage children to hawk alone due to the risks involved.
He noted that many victims of harassment remain silent, making the problem more widespread than reported.
The video has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians calling for increased protection for children and stricter measures to address abuse and exploitation in public spaces.
