Osimhen Undergoes Surgery After Champions League Injury, Set for Recovery

Nigerian International and Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery following an injury sustained during UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash between Galatasaray and Liverpool FC, Global Mirror News reports.
The striker picked up the injury in the second-leg encounter at Anfield after an aerial collision with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
Despite initially continuing play with his arm heavily bandaged, Osimhen was eventually substituted at halftime as the pain and swelling worsened.
Galatasaray went on to suffer a heavy 4-0 defeat on the night, crashing out of the competition with a 4-1 aggregate loss.
Confirming the development, the Turkish club announced that the forward underwent a successful surgical procedure on Monday at a specialist medical facility in Istanbul. The operation was conducted by the club’s medical team, led by its Chief Doctor.
“We wish our footballer a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible,” the club said in an official statement.
Despite the European setback, Osimhen remains a central figure in Galatasaray’s domestic ambitions. The prolific forward has been instrumental this season, registering 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, helping his side maintain a four-point lead in the Turkish league title race.
He also impressed in Europe prior to their elimination, recording seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League outings.
Meanwhile, the injury has ruled him out of Nigeria’s upcoming International friendlies, as he was omitted from the squad scheduled to face Jordan and Iran later this month in Turkey.
