One Dead, Four Injured in Fatal Crash on Abeokuta – Siun Road

Tragedy struck on Tuesday, 7th October , 2025, t a woman lost her life and ur others sustained injuries in a fatal road crash along the Abeokuta–Siun Expressway in Ogun State.

The accident, which occurred near Day Waterman College, involved a Toyota Picnic space wagon with registration number BWR 181 BD and a MAN Diesel truck without a registration number.

According to the Spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, a total of nine people—five males and four females—were involved in the crash.

Akinbiyi explained that four persons, made up of two men and two women, sustained varying degrees of injuries, while one female passenger died on the spot.

He added that the accident was likely caused by reckless driving and loss of control, leading to a head-on collision between both vehicles.

TRACE officials, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were said to have arrived promptly to rescue the injured victims and clear the wreckage, which caused a temporary traffic gridlock on the busy highway.

“The injured victims have been taken to the General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, for medical treatment, while the deceased has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue,” Akinbiyi said.

He urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid speeding, and always maintain safe driving distances, especially along major intercity routes like the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway, notorious for frequent accidents.

The incident adds to the growing number of road crashes recorded in Ogun State in recent weeks, prompting renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved driver education.
