Omisore, Alabi Intensify Pressure on Adeleke, Say Osun Needs ‘Leadership, Not Showmanship’

A fresh wave of political criticism is sweeping through Osun State as top All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship hopefuls, Senator Iyiola Omisore and former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, escalate their attacks on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership style and priorities.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday after submitting his APC nomination forms, Omisore offered a sharp rebuke of what he described as a “performance-driven façade” in the current administration, insisting that the state’s mounting socio-economic challenges require seasoned hands, not theatrics.

Omisore, a former Deputy Governor and ex-APC National Secretary, argued that Governance in Osun has been reduced to spectacle.
“Public office is not a theatre stage,” he said. “Leadership demands clarity, depth, and responsibility. Osun deserves a leader focused on solutions, not choreography.”

The seasoned politician insisted that experience gathered over decades of public service is the missing link in Osun’s Governance.
“Experience is like aged wine. You cannot fake it or acquire it overnight,” he stated. “Osun needs a leader who understands the weight of the job.”

Taking his critique further, Omisore claimed Governor Adeleke’s performance falls short of the competence required even at lower levels of administration.
“If I were Governor, I could not appoint him as commissioner, not even for information,” he declared. “That speaks to the seriousness of the issues Osun has grappled with in the past three years.”

He listed education, healthcare, and road infrastructure as urgent areas requiring intervention, arguing that the state’s reputation has suffered due to weak policy direction.

Within the same APC camp, another aspirant, Chief Alabi, echoed Omisore’s concerns, accusing Adeleke of neglecting essential sectors despite surface-level infrastructural projects.

Alabi said Osun’s Education system is struggling under the current administration, noting that the Government has not recruited a single Teacher in three years despite glaring shortages.
“When we hired 2,500 Teachers in my time, we still had a 7,500-teacher deficit. Today, that gap has widened because this Government has done nothing,” he said.

He also criticised the State’s healthcare system, calling the reported stagnation “a troubling signal that citizens’ welfare is not being prioritised.”

Both aspirants expressed confidence in the APC’s internal process as nine contenders vie for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2026 Governorship election. Omisore maintained that he is well-positioned to secure the nomination.

As political tensions heighten in Osun, Governor Adeleke is facing increasingly vocal scrutiny from major opposition figures, a sign that the race for the State’s top seat is rapidly intensifying.
