Global Mirror News has gathered that popular Nigerian Gospel singer and evangelist, Bunmi Akinnaanu, fondly known as Omije Ojumi, has passed away.

Her death was announced on Tuesday through a statement posted on Instagram by fellow Gospel Artiste Ayo Melody on behalf of the family.

The statement confirmed that the celebrated singer died on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos.

The message read in part:
“With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye (Omije Ojumi), who departed this life on 12th January, 2026, at a Lagos hospital. May God grant her eternal rest.”

The statement was signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family.

Although the family did not disclose the cause of death, Global Mirror News gathered that the late gospel singer had in recent months appealed for prayers following a medical challenge affecting her leg.

In October 2025, a video circulated online showing her during a church service at G.F. David Ministries, Ibadan, where she was seen seated with her leg stretched out while prayers were offered for her healing.

A cleric at the service had referenced persistent bleeding and described the condition as a spiritual challenge.

However, there has been no official confirmation linking the ailment to her death.

Bunmi Akinnaanu began her music journey at a young age and later made the bold decision to leave a banking career to pursue gospel music full-time.

She rose to National prominence with her breakout hit “Omije Ojumi,” a deeply emotional worship song that became a staple in churches and Christian homes across Nigeria.

Global Mirror News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more details emerge.
