Olumo Rock’s Free Entry Ends

The Ogun State Government has announced that the free entry initiative at the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex will come to an end on Saturday, August 23, 2025, due to safety concerns over overcrowding.

Thousands of visitors have flocked to the site since its reopening, exceeding expectations and posing risks to public safety.

The Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, CON introduced the free entry initiative as part of efforts to reposition Olumo Rock as a world-class tourism destination. The aim was to give residents and tourists an opportunity to rediscover the landmark after its renovation.

According to the Government, the initiative was a success, with thousands of people taking advantage of it to promote the cultural and historical significance of the site.

The unprecedented influx of visitors raised concerns about overcrowding and public safety. At certain points, the volume of the crowd posed risks that could have resulted in a stampede but for the swift and professional intervention of security agencies to prevent any major incidents.

The Government expressed gratitude to residents, tourists, and visitors for their overwhelming patronage and assured that measures are being taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for future guests.

After the free entry initiative ends on Saturday, August 23rd, normal access procedures will resume at the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex. Visitors will once again be required to pay for entry, and the Government assures the public of its unwavering commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all visitors.
