Ojerinde Ibara Omida Dynasty Heritage Marks Ibara Day with Joyful Homecoming

It was a radiant day of culture, unity, and nostalgia as the Ojerinde Ibara Omida Dynasty Heritage family joined the people of Ibara Kingdom to mark the 2025 Ibara Day Celebration held on Saturday 8th October, 2025, at the O.L.A Laying Ground in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The colourful event, which attracted the cream of the crop from Ibara Kingdom and across Yorubaland, was graced by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and sons and daughters of the soil who came together to celebrate the kingdom’s rich heritage and enduring legacy.

The day was filled with music, dance, and cultural displays, including the spectacular Gèlèdè performance and horse-riding processions, symbolizing the strength, pride, and beauty of Ibara tradition. The atmosphere brimmed with joy as indigenes and guests from towns and villages such as Ibara Orile, Odo Aro, Apo De, and others participated in the festivities.

In a heartfelt congratulatory message, the Dynasty extended warm greetings to His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Jacob Olufemi Omolade (JP), the Olubara of Ibara, the Council of Chiefs, and all indigenes of Ibara Kingdom.

“This remarkable day celebrates our shared heritage, unity, and the enduring legacy of Ibara. May the Olubara and his Council continue to hold all indigenes and citizens together fruitfully, as our kingdom flourishes in peace, progress, and prosperity. Ilu Ibara a gbe gbogbo wa. Ase,” the message read.

Though some family members were unavoidably absent, including those residing abroad, but, they were actively involved from the planning stages to the day of the celebration, contributing through coordination, communication, and goodwill messages that strengthened the event’s success.

Special recognition was given to Alhaji Musibau Ogundairo, commended for his unwavering commitment to keeping the enlarged Ojerinde Omida family united and fostering love and understanding across generations.

Among the families represented at the event were the Jimoh Ojerinde, Ogundairo, Johnson Afolabi Ojerinde, Oyebade, Ojebiyi, Ojo, Oduwole, Akindele, Fayomi – Baba Olopa, Omosanya, and Ogunfolaji families, among others.

The celebration ended in high spirits with renewed commitment to preserve the Dynasty’s legacy, promote unity among Ibara descendants, and celebrate the kingdom’s vibrant cultural identity for generations to come.
