Ogun Waterside LG First Lady Urges Women to Support Govt
In a passionate plea for unity and progress, the First Lady of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, Chief Mrs. Titilayo Odunnoiki, has urged women in the Council Area to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and her husband, Hon. AbdulGaniyu Odunnoiki, for rapid and meaningful development.
Mrs. Odunnoiki made the call during her investiture as Patron of the National Council for Women Society (NCWS) Ogun Waterside Branch at the Council’s Secretariat.
She expressed her gratitude to the Society for honoring her and other well-meaning personalities, promising to use her office to promote unity, drive progress, and advance meaningful development.
The First Lady also urged the women to continue pledging solidarity with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Governor Abiodun’s ISEYA Master Plan, and Hon. Odunnoiki’s administration in Ogun Waterside Local Government.
She emphasized that collective support for these initiatives would accelerate development and improve the lives of the people.
In his remarks, Hon. Odunnoiki AbdulGaniyu, who played host to the event, thanked the NCWS under the leadership of Alhaja Busari Ganiyat for honoring him as their Adviser and his wife as Patron.
He highlighted his administration’s achievements since taking office, including:
- Reconversion of 18 Open stalls into Lock-Up Shops with a toilet at Abigi Market
- Construction of 8 Lock-Up Shops at Abigi Market
- Renovation of Skill Acquisition at Ilushin Secondary School
- Renovation of Warehouse at Makun Omi Market
- Renovation of the Toilet facility and installation of a Solar Inverter at Makun Omi Market
- Drilling of Motorized Boreholes for the people of Ibiade, Efire, Ayila, Ayede, and Itebu Towns, respectively
- Construction of a Mini-Jetty facility at Igbo Edu.
- Facilitating numerous employment opportunities for indigents, among others.
Hon. Odunnoiki also drew the people’s attention to the ongoing voters’ registration, emphasizing that it was the only way to vote for continuity in Government.
He encouraged those who had lost or had their cards defaced or those just turning 18 to visit the INEC office to complete the necessary procedures within the short window provided.
Other notable speakers at the event included Hon. Joseph Folorunso Adegbesan, an honorable member representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.
He appreciated NCWS for honoring him and the people of the Local Government area for their steadfastness during the last general election.
He informed them that the issue of darkness in the area would soon be a thing of the past, as he had made every effort towards restoring the light.
The Ojotumoro of Abigi, HRM Oba Oludolapo Oluwasegun Ogunye, thanked Hon. Rufai for bringing Crestfield College of Health Technology to Abigi and congratulated NCWS on their milestone achievement in bringing all the women folks together.
He sought the support and cooperation of all to take Abigi to an enviable height.
The Guest Lecturer, Prof. Busarat Oluwakemi Adekola of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, represented by Dr. Olanrewaju Ibrahim, admonished the women present to train their children, particularly the girl child, as there were enormous gains in such action.
She cited examples of Prof. Ngozi Okwojo Nwala, former Finance Minister; the late Dora Akuyili of NAFDAC; and Prof. Busarat Oluwakemi Adekola, who had distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.
The President of the National Council for Women Society (NCWS) Ogun Waterside Branch, Alhaja Busari Ganiyat, announced that the Council was not a political movement but comprised women of virtue and substance, including market women, Christian and Muslim women, artisans, and professional bodies.
She claimed that the organization was meant mainly for the emancipation of women in society and that no one should politicize their activities.
