Ogun Waterside L.G Chairman, Hon. Odunnoiki Presents N9.6 Billion, 2026 Budget to the Council.

In a bid to take dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of all the inhabitants and fulfill the campaign promises made to the people, the Executive Chairman, Ogun Waterside Local Government, Abigi, Hon. Odunnoiki Adetoye AbdulGaniyu has presented a proposed appropriation bill of Nine Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty Million Naira Only {#9,680,000,000.00} to the Leader and other members of the Council’s Legislative Arm at the Secretariat in Abigi for their consideration and approval.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Odunnoiki stated that, having adhered strictly to all known guidelines on budget preparation, the Local Government had prepared the 2026 budget in such a way that the dividends of democracy would further be spread to the nooks and crannies of the Local Government. He also affirmed that his administration will ensure that adequate provisions will be made for programmes and projects that would cut across all the 10 wards of the Local Government.
He stressed that, they’re going to be focusing more on;
- Continuous execution of meaningful projects.
- Grading, Construction, and Rehabilitation of Roads for easy transportation of goods and services from the Rural to Urban Areas.
- Clearing of Road verges as well as patching of the deplorable parts of our Roads.
- Provision of standard Health services for the betterment of our people particularly in terms of service delivery.
- Procurement of Tractor(s) and other farm implements to make the farming season easier for our teeming Farmers.
- Construction/Rehabilitation of Public Primary Schools across the 10 Wards to make learning more conducive and provide writing/instructional materials for our pupils.
- Provision of alternative Public sources of power to the people in all the Wards in view of the lack of Electricity across the Council Area.
- Installation of Solar Powered Street Lights across the wards in the Local Government.

The Council Boss said, to implement all of the above, a budget of Nine Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty Million Naira Only {#9,680,000,000.00} has been proposed and the breakdown is stated below;
- Internally Generated Revenue {IGR} – #70,900,000.00
- Allocation from the State Government Account – #1,000,000,000.00
- Statutory Allocation from the Federal Account – #7,877,000,000.00
- Value Added Tax – #332,100,000.00
- Proceed from Excess Crude – #300,000,000.00
- Excess Gain – #100,000,000.00
Total – #9,680,000,000.00
He added that the hope of realising these amounts is based on two things; firstly, the Revenue of the Local Government which will be widened in the year to increase our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) noting that, the administration has constituted a Revenue Tax Force Committee (RTFC) led by the Secretary to the Local Government. And, the second one is the projected increase in receipts from the Federal and State accounts, respectively.
Giving the analysis on the sectoral breakdown of the Budget.
Hon. Odunnoiki stated that the administration is set to expend a sum of One Hundred and Seventy Five Million Naira Only {#175,000,000.00} representing 13% of the total Capital Expenditure on various forms of agricultural ventures, while some other extension of Agricultural services is ongoing within the Local Government as he hope that this singular effort will go a long way in promoting agricultural activities as well as helping the farmers and boosting food production while available raw materials would be exposed to both local and international markets.

He said, Four Hundred and Seventy Two Million, Five Hundred Thousands Naira Only {#472,500,000.00} representing 35% of the total Capital Expenditure is going to be expended by the Works and Housing Department as the amounts would be spread on constructions, rehabilitation of infrastructure, grading of roads but to mention a few while another One Hundred and Seven Million Naira Only {#107,000,000.00} representing 9% of the total Capital Expenditure will go to the area of taking care of the people in one hand and allowing the Local Government to actively participate in the National Health Care Programmes in the other hand, all of which are geared towards ensuring quality health care for the people.
Also to benefit from the scheme of projects is the Education, which is parting with Ninety Seven Million Naira Only {#97,000,000.00} as this is to be used for the Construction/ Rehabilitation of Public Primary Schools and provisions of writing and instructional materials for the pupils across the Council Area.

The Council Chairman, also proposed Ninety Million Naira Only {#90,000,000.00} for the provisions of constituency projects in various wards of the Local Government while he boosted that salaries and allowances of both the Political Office Holders and the Career Officers have always been paid as and when due, staff welfarism has been priotized as they were being sponsored to seminars and workshops to enhance their skills and professionalism on the job.

Reviewing the 2025 budget, Hon. Odunnoiki highlighted some key achievements of his administration in the approved budget which was ₦6.4billion covering recurrent and capital expenditures claiming that despite the challenges faced the Council still realized ₦26million representing 40% of the expected ₦66.8million in revenue and ₦4.25 billion representing 67% of the ₦6.3 billion Statutory Allocation from the Federal and State Accounts respectively. He added that total expenditure stood at ₦4.27billion allocated to workers’ salaries, allowances, and capital projects.

Notable amongst the 2025 projects included the Renovation of the Skill Acquisition Centre at Ilushin and the reconstruction of a Mini-Jetty facility at Igbo-Edu Wharf. The Local Government also drilled 5 Motorised Boreholes at Efire, Makun Omi, Ibiade, Ayede and Itebu, the overhauling of the only Komatsu Grading Machine paved the way for the grading of Roads across Nine {9} Wards, Construction of 8 units Lock Up Shops at Abigi Motor Garage and conversion of 18 Open Stalls to 18 Lock-Up Shops and construction of a Modern Toilet with water at Abigi Market.
The Council Chairman also used the medium to appreciate all the Party Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Market Men and Women, Community Leaders, the good people of the Local Government for their unflinching support over the years while still appealing for more cooperation on the issues related with payment of rates, taxes, levies, fines, and dues to the Government covers as the bedrock of our internally generated revenue which is only catalyst to development at the grassroots.
In his acceptance speech, the Honourable Leader of the House, Hon. Okeowo Felix Ajayi appreciated the resilient and dynamic ways in which the Chairman has been administering since inception of office particularly his prowess for steadfastness, development and empowerment programmes to all the Ten {10} Wards of the Local Government area which align with their party vision and mission to rebuild the Local Government based on equity, fairness, transparency and justice.
He noted that this is not the first time that the Honourable House will be dealing with an assignment of this magnitude and pass for the upliftment, standardisation and general well- being of the people at the grassroots. He then assured that the house will work assiduously and with sincerity of purpose towards considering, approving, passing and performing its oversight functions on this 2026 Budget for the two arms of government to collaborate in bringing the much-awaited dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people.

The Budget Presentation was well attended by the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Ogunlana Olabode, Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Okuwoga Nojeemdeen Adeyinka, Honourable Councillors representing 10 Wards, Supervisors, Special Advisers, Commissioner IV LGSC, Hon. Rufai Olatunde Rasaq, other Party Leaders, Ag. Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Sodeinde Olanrewaju, Directors/ Heads of Department, and Units Head, amongst others.
