Ogun State Court Of Appeal Division: A Step Closer To Justice

In a significant development for the judiciary in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun announced that the State has received approval to establish its division of the Court of Appeal.

This move is expected to bring relief to residents of the State who have had to travel to Ibadan for court proceedings.

According to Governor Abiodun, the establishment of the Ogun Division of the Court of Appeal will significantly reduce the time it takes to resolve appeals, ensuring that justice is delivered promptly.

The Governor made this disclosure in a statement on Monday, 15th September, 2025, highlighting the benefits of the new Division.

The Ogun State Government had been advocating for the establishment of a Court of Appeal division in the State for some time.

Governor Abiodun made a request to the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, during a meeting in May 2024, highlighting the need for a division in Ogun State to address the increasing workload of judges in the Ibadan Division.

The establishment of the Ogun Division of the Court of Appeal is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s judiciary.

With the Court of Appeal now closer to the people, residents of Ogun State will no longer have to travel to Ibadan to attend court proceedings, making it easier for them to access justice.

The Governor has expressed his willingness to start the construction of the court building, and the state judiciary is expected to work closely with the Government to ensure the smooth operation of the new division.

This development marks a significant milestone in the state’s quest for efficient justice delivery.

The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, has hailed the approval as a dream come true, saying it will benefit the State and help decongest the Ibadan division of the Court of Appeal.

This development is a welcome news for the people of Ogun State, and it is expected to improve the delivery of justice in the state.

As the State Judiciary works to operationalize the new division, residents are optimistic about the positive impact it will have on their lives.
