Ogun Speaker Commends Lawmaker Tella’s Water Initiative

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has lauded Hon. Prince Tella, the Deputy Chief Whip, for his efforts to improve access to clean water in Abeokuta North State Constituency. Tella recently commissioned 16 boreholes across the 16 Wards in his Constituency.
According to Elemide, the project is an “unprecedented intervention” that has brought water to communities where it was previously unavailable. “Water is life, and Tella has given water where there was none. In doing so, he has given life,” Elemide said.
The borehole project was initiated by Tella in response to residents’ demands, particularly after road construction damaged many water pipes. The lawmaker has been working tirelessly to address the needs of his constituents, and this project is just one of many initiatives he has undertaken.

Tella’s commitment to his constituents goes beyond the borehole project. He has also implemented various empowerment programmes, including the distribution of sewing machines, fertilizers, and cash support to constituents. Additionally, with the Governor’s support, a member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the constituency was able to embark on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem this year.

While commending Tella for his efforts, Elemide urged residents to take ownership of the project and ensure its maintenance. “Government would not be responsible for maintenance,” he said. The APC Chairman in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, and the Leader of the House in the Local Government, Hon. Moruf Erubami, also echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of proper maintenance to ensure the longevity of the project.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker Hon. Latifat Bolanle Ajayi, Hon. Amosun Yusuf Olawale (Ewekoro constituency), Hon. Salami Fatiu Folawewo (Ifo Constituency II), and APC Treasurer Abeokuta North Akinpelu Oluwaseun, among others.
