The Ogun State Government has ordered the immediate closure of African Refractory and Allied Products Limited (ARAP), Ogijo, following a viral video in which a former employee alleged that he contracted a contagious disease while working at the company.
ARAP, a ramming production firm that crushes quartz stones into fine powder for lining furnaces in steel manufacturing companies, was shut down pending the outcome of investigations into the allegations.
In the viral video, Mr. Bartholomew Aniemeka claimed he developed silicosis during his employment with the company before leaving in June 2025.

Oresanya assured residents that the Government is fully addressing the situation and taking all necessary regulatory steps to protect public health and workplace safety.
He further disclosed that Aniemeka, who is currently receiving treatment at TopMed Hospital in Ogijo and is reported to be in stable condition, has been assured of comprehensive medical care.
According to the commissioner, a series of medical tests will be conducted to accurately determine his health status, adding that the State Government is committed to ensuring a fair and logical resolution of the matter.
