Ogun Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Pump‑Action Guns

The Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected armed robber and recovered two pump‑action firearms in a targeted operation carried out in the State.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the command to clamp down on armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms in Ogun State.

According to the State Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, intelligence gathered by the Anti‑Robbery Squad indicated that a suspect had been illegally carrying firearms and was involved in criminal activities in the region.

Acting on this information, the Police launched an operation on Sunday, December 14, 2025, that led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Adenekan Segun, popularly known as “Expensive.”

During the operation, Law Enforcement Officers recovered two pump‑action guns from the suspect.

DSP Babaseyi explained that the suspect had allegedly brandished the weapons during a personal dispute, which prompted security operatives to investigate further.

The firearms are now in Police custody as part of ongoing investigations into their source and the suspect’s possible links to other criminal networks operating in the State.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the swift and professional response of the operatives involved in the arrest.

He reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy on armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms, assuring residents that the police would continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of all communities across Ogun State.

Authorities also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to prevent crime.

The suspect is currently being interrogated, and formal charges are expected to be filed once investigations are concluded.

This arrest marks another milestone in the State’s intensified campaign against armed robbery and criminality, signaling the determination of the Ogun State Police Command to protect lives and properties.
