In a move expected to bolster police-public relations across the state, the Ogun State Police Command has appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). The appointment, approved by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, marks a new chapter in proactive communication between law enforcement and the community.

DSP Babaseyi brings to the role a wealth of experience, blending legal expertise with frontline policing. A graduate of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, with an LL.B, he also holds a BL from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University. His educational background complements his extensive field experience across multiple Nigerian states.

Before taking over in Ogun, Babaseyi served as deputy PPRO in Lagos State, where he was instrumental in modernizing police engagement with the public. His operational career spans crime management as Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, command roles at Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State, and leadership in specialized units such as the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF).

Notably, DSP Babaseyi has served in joint military-police operations under Operation Hadin Kai in Yobe and Borno States, after completing rigorous training at the Nigeria Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi. His appointment is widely seen as a strategic step to enhance transparency, strengthen community trust, and modernize the Command’s public outreach.

State residents and civil society stakeholders have welcomed the new PPRO, expressing optimism that his blend of legal knowledge, operational experience, and media-savvy approach will bring a renewed focus on community-oriented policing in Ogun State.
