Ogun NUJ Resets Governance, Scraps Committees, Sets Stage For Inclusive 2026 Reforms

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has dissolved all standing committees constituted during the first term of the Wale Olanrewaju-led administration, in a decisive move to reposition the Union for broader participation and stronger institutional delivery in 2026.

Global Mirror News gathered that the restructuring, announced in a Press Release issued for immediate use, is designed to engage more members of the Union, expand capacity-driven roles, and ensure the effective implementation of the Council’s vision and strategic aspirations.

The newly elected Executive said the decision would not erase the contributions of outgoing committee members, whose selfless service and commitment were credited with driving the significant progress achieved during the administration’s first term.

The leadership expressed appreciation to all members who served in various capacities.

Approval for the constitution of new committees, alongside the expansion of some existing ones, was granted at the first Executive Meeting of the Wale Olanrewaju-led administration in 2026.

According to information available to Global Mirror News, the committees span critical operational, professional, and welfare areas, including the Capacity Development and Programme Exchange Committee, Ventures and Asset Management Committee, Membership Revalidation Committee, Social and Welfare Committee, Project Development Committee, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, Media Parliament Guest Forum, Ramadan Lecture/Iftar Committee, Health and Fitness Committee, and the 2026 Press Week Committee, among others.

The Executive further disclosed that the full list of committee members will be announced and formally inaugurated at the first Congress of the NUJ Ogun State Council.

In fulfilment of a key campaign pledge, the Council revealed that plans to provide uninterrupted internet access for members have reached an advanced stage, with relevant service providers already engaged and agreements concluded to deliver the project.

The Council expressed gratitude to stakeholders and supporters who have contributed to the progress recorded so far, assuring members that the reforms underway are geared towards greater achievements in the year ahead.

The statement was e-signed by the Council Secretary, Bunmi Adigun.
