The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to host Governorship aspirant, Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, at a high-profile Media Parley in Abeokuta as political activities ahead of the 2027 Governorship election begin to gather momentum in the State.

The event, being organised through the NUJ Media Parliament Committee, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Iwe Iroyin, beginning from 2:00pm.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Media Parliament Committee, Wole Otayemi, the session is part of the committee’s ongoing engagement series designed to provide political actors with a credible and non-partisan platform to explain their programmes, policies and vision to the public through the media.

Senator Obasanjo-Bello, who is seeking the Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, is expected to meet Journalists from both National and Local Media organisations across Ogun State.

During the interactive session, the former Senatoris expected to unveil her manifesto and speak extensively on her development agenda for Ogun State. She is also expected to present her strategic plans on issues such as infrastructure, education, economic growth, job creation, security and industrial development.

The organisers said the parley would give Journalists the opportunity to ask direct questions and seek clarification on the aspirant’s policy positions and governance plans.

Otayemi noted that the Media Parliament remains committed to ensuring a professional, transparent and impactful engagement that will deepen public understanding of the various political alternatives available ahead of the next election cycle.

“The engagement will provide room for in-depth discussion on critical issues affecting Ogun State and enable the public to better understand the vision of the aspirant,” he said.

He added that the Ogun NUJ Media Parliament would continue to maintain its tradition as a neutral platform committed to promoting informed political discourse, accountability and democratic values through robust interaction between political leaders and the media.

Also signing the statement was Idongesit Jonah, who reiterated the committee’s resolve to sustain issue-based political conversations in the State.

Political observers believe the forthcoming session may offer one of the earliest opportunities for Senator Obasanjo-Bello to publicly outline her ambitions and distinguish herself in what is expected to become a keenly contested race for the Ogun Governorship.
