Ogun NIPR Pays Tribute to Late Sports Broadcaster Hakeem Akintunde

The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, former Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State chapter, and a staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV).

In a condolence message made available to Global Mirror News, the Institute commiserated with the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), SWAN, and the management and staff of OGTV on the passing of the seasoned sports journalist and respected broadcaster.

The NIPR described Akintunde as a consummate professional who distinguished himself through incisive sports analysis, articulate presentation and an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics.

According to the statement obtained by Global Mirror News, his depth of knowledge and ability to connect with diverse audiences earned him admiration across the media and sporting communities.

The chapter noted that the late broadcaster provided purposeful leadership during his tenure as SWAN Chairman and remained a committed member of NUJ and other professional bodies. His years of service at OGTV, it added, were marked by diligence, passion and excellence.

“Ogun NIPR shares in the grief of the entire journalism community in the State,” the statement read, stressing that Akintunde’s legacy in sports broadcasting and media development would continue to resonate within the profession.

While extending heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, the Institute prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and fortitude for those he left behind.
