The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has finalized plans to host its 2025 Local Government Service Week, a week-long event aimed at promoting unity, professionalism, and renewed dedication among workers across the 20 Local Government Areas of the stayte.
The celebration, themed “Learning from the Past, Serving the Present, Shaping the Future: A New Era of Responsive Local Government Service,” will run from Tuesday, November 11 to Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, said the Service Week represents a vital step in building a responsive, people-focused, and performance-driven Local Government system.
“This year’s celebration goes beyond fanfare,” Onabanjo said. “It’s a moment for reflection, renewed commitment, and strategic planning to ensure that Ogun’s Local Government system stands as a model of efficiency and grassroots impact across Nigeria.”
The programme begins on Tuesday, November 11, with an inter-religious prayer session at the Commission’s open premises in Abeokuta by 10:00 a.m. to appreciate divine protection and seek blessings for continued success.
On Wednesday, November 12, a Public Lecture will hold at the Obas Complex, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by 9:00 a.m. The lecture will be delivered by Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali, former National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and will focus on enhancing professionalism, accountability, and innovation in the Local Government system.
Later that day, by 2:00 p.m., a Cultural Evening will feature traditional music, dance, artistic displays, and Local games—promoting unity and celebrating the State’s rich heritage.
The celebration will climax on Thursday, November 13, at the DLK Events Center, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, with a red-carpet session at 12:00 p.m., followed by an Awards and Gala Night at 2:00 p.m. where outstanding individuals, Local Governments, and organizations will be honoured for their contributions to effective service delivery.
According to Onabanjo, the Service Week will also serve as a platform to review progress, share ideas, and reinforce values of integrity, diligence, and teamwork that define the public service ethos in Ogun State.
