Ogun Govt Engages Fulani Leaders, Security Chiefs to Boost Peace, Strengthen Security

The Ogun State Government has held a high-level security meeting with Fulani Leaders, Security Agencies, and other stakeholders as part of efforts to sustain peace and prevent potential security threats across the State.

The strategic meeting took place in Abeokuta and was convened by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (Rtd.). It brought together the Security Service Chiefs, Security Consultants, Representatives of Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Fulani Leaders known as Serikis, as well as representatives of the Miyetti Allah group.

Speaking during the meeting, Subair stressed the need for proactive engagement and strong collaboration between communities and security institutions in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in the State.

According to him, effective security management depends largely on cooperation between Government Authorities, Security Agencies, and Community Leaders.

“Our responsibility is to remain vigilant and proactive. Security is most effective when communities and institutions work together. Ogun State will continue to strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure that peace and mutual trust remain the foundation of our coexistence,” he said.

The meeting also created an avenue for open dialogue among participants on ways to deepen cooperation between Security Agencies and community leaders across various communities in the State.

Fulani leaders present at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged their support for government efforts aimed at preventing criminal elements from infiltrating their communities.

Chairman of Miyetti Allah in the South-West, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Labar, alongside the National Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Abdul Mumuni Ibrahim, assured the Ogun State Government of their willingness to work closely with security agencies to maintain peace and stability.

At the end of the deliberations, participants agreed on several measures to strengthen security vigilance and coordination across Ogun State. These include increased grassroots engagement, improved cooperation between communities and Security Agencies, and sustained dialogue among stakeholders.

The State Government also urged residents to support ongoing security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities through official channels, including the Ogun State Police Command’s “Gateway Shield” mobile application and other emergency lines.

Stakeholders at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration to ensure peace, strengthen trust among communities, and keep Ogun State safe for residents and businesses.
