Ogun Family Tragedy Leaves Three Children Orphaned After Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal

Global Mirror News gathered and verified reports confirm that a devastating domestic incident rocked a residential community in Ogun State after a couple Mr. Ayoola and Mrs. Ganiatu Ayanwale were found dead following a violent dispute inside their home on December 8.

According to Global Mirror News correspondents who monitored emergency and Police activity around the River Valley Estate, Ojodu axis, a middle-aged man and his wife were involved in a serious altercation in the presence of their children on Thursday, December 8 evening.

Ganiatu, the wife sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors later confirmed her death despite efforts to save her.

Residents who spoke to Global Mirror News said neighbours were alerted by cries for help coming from the apartment before the victim was taken to the hospital.

Community sources further disclosed that the couple had a history of domestic disagreements, which had reportedly escalated in recent months.

Hours after the woman was pronounced dead, Global Mirror News gathered that the husband left the Area and was later discovered lifeless in a different part of the town.

But on Friday January 9, Ayoola was found dead at Sotubo Area of Ogun State. Eyewitness accounts explained that he committed suicide as a bottle of sniper was also found near the body.

The Nigeria Police Force Ogun State Command through the Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, also confirmed the double tragedy.

Babaseyi said Ayoola was found gasping for breath in an open field in the Sotubo area of Ogun State. He was subsequently pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

Police sources indicated that preliminary findings suggest he may have taken his own life, although full forensic and coroner investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.

Officers of the Ogun State Police Command visited both locations, secured the scenes and recovered personal items believed to belong to the man, two mobile phones, atm card and his voter’s card were found on him.

A formal investigation has been opened to document the events, including statements from witnesses and neighbours.

The case has therefore been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The Police confirmed.

Global Mirror News reports that the couple’s three children, who were present during the domestic dispute, have now been placed under the care of extended family members as authorities consider child-welfare and counselling arrangements.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing concern over domestic violence in Nigerian communities, with civil society groups urging residents to speak up and seek help early when disputes become unsafe.

Police have assured the public that a comprehensive statement will be issued after all investigative procedures are concluded.
