Ogun Court Remands Portable, Denies Bail After Arraignment

Portable in Police custody

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded in custody by a Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, following his arraignment on multiple criminal charges, Global Mirror News gathered.

The singer was on Monday charged with offences bordering on assault, obstruction of Police Officers, resisting arrest and theft.

Confirming the development, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that Portable was arrested, arraigned and subsequently remanded in custody.

Yes, he was arraigned and remanded yesterday,” the police spokesperson stated.

Global Mirror News gathered that Portable’s arraignment followed a viral video that surfaced on Sunday showing the visibly distressed singer in handcuffs, shirtless and tearfully pleading while seated in what appeared to be a Police holding facility.

According to the prosecution, the Zazu crooner allegedly assaulted popular actress and skit maker Omobolarinde Akinyanju, widely known as Ashabi Simple, who is one of his baby mamas and the mother of two of his children.

The alleged attack was said to have taken place on New Year’s Day at Portable’s bar in the Iyana Ilogbo Area of Ogun State.

Court documents revealed that the singer, alongside some accomplices, was accused of attacking Ashabi and other victims during the incident.

Those listed in the charge sheet include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi and Ebuka Odah.

The prosecution further alleged that Portable stole a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and associated with car dealer Wally Dex Auto.

During the proceedings, two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified before the court as witnesses to the alleged assault, though Ashabi herself was absent from the courtroom.

Police also alleged that the singer obstructed and assaulted a female Police Inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her lawful duties.

In his ruling, the presiding judge declined to grant Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted Police Officer in Court.

The judge ruled that the officer must appear before any bail application could be considered.

Consequently, Portable was remanded in custody, while the case was adjourned to January 19, 2026, for hearing of the bail application.

Meanwhile, Global Mirror News gathered that the Ogun State Police Command has ordered an investigation into a separate viral video allegedly showing the singer being assaulted while in police custody.
