The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has congratulated the Government and people of Ogun State as the State marks 50 years of its creation, describing the Golden Jubilee as a landmark achievement that reflects decades of resilience, growth and purposeful leadership.

In a congratulatory message issued to commemorate the milestone, the Professional Body rejoiced with Ogun State on its 50th Anniversary and extended special commendation to Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, for leading the Gateway State at a defining moment in its history and ushering it into another phase of sustained development.

According to the statement, the Golden Jubilee celebration stands as a testament to Ogun State’s unwavering spirit, unrelenting pursuit of excellence and unshakeable commitment to growth and development since its creation on February 3, 1976.

The Institute noted that Ogun State has consistently distinguished itself as a beacon of aspiration and breakthrough in Nigeria, leveraging its rich human and natural resources to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and economic prosperity.

It added that beyond being a treasure trove of cultural heritage and historical landmarks, the state has carved a unique identity as the education capital of Nigeria, with the highest concentration of Tertiary Institutions in the Country.

Reflecting on the State’s journey over the past five decades, Ogun NIPR stated that Ogun has evolved into a vibrant hub of activity, creativity and opportunity.

It further described the state as a growing powerhouse of public relations practice, strategically nurturing talent, promoting professionalism and driving positive initiatives through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

The institute saluted the cumulative efforts of leadership over the years, acknowledging the visionary contributions of past and present leaders whose dedication laid the foundation for the State’s growth and guided it to its current status as a model of development in Nigeria.

Ogun NIPR also applauded the people of Ogun State for their resilience, industry and solidarity, noting that these qualities have played a critical role in earning the State its place among Nigeria’s most progressive and prosperous States.

Highlighting recent achievements, the institute observed that under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State has become widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s most business-friendly states.

It said the state has attracted significant investments across manufacturing, logistics, real estate and technology sectors, with over 6,000 manufacturing firms, major assembly plants and industrial clusters spread across various parts of the State.

On infrastructure development, the statement praised what it described as revolutionary strides under the current administration, revealing that more than 1,000 roads have been constructed and rehabilitated since 2019.

It noted that several of these projects are being commissioned as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary celebration.

The Institute further commended the State’s strong Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) performance, which it said has significantly reduced dependence on Federal Allocations and strengthened Ogun State’s overall development trajectory.

Looking to the future, Ogun NIPR expressed optimism about the State’s prospects, citing the discovery of oil in two locations and the promise of prosperity associated with ongoing and planned Government projects.

It stated that these developments position Ogun State for even greater growth in the years ahead.

“As we stand on the threshold of our Golden Jubilee, we must look back not as a collection of separate towns and tribes, but as one indivisible family bound by a shared heritage,” the statement said.

The message was signed by the Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of NIPR, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, mnipr, who, on behalf of the executive and entire members of the institute, extended heartfelt congratulations to all indigenes, residents and friends of Ogun State on the Golden Jubilee celebration, reaffirming the institute’s slogan: “Proudly Ogun!
