Ogun Assembly Applauds Housing Ministry’s Landmark Projects as 2026 Budgets Are Examined

Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Finance and Appropriations, has applauded the Ministry of Housing for delivering significant affordable housing projects across the State in 2025, while urging the Ministry to exceed these achievements in the 2026 fiscal year.

The commendation was made during the 2026 budget defence sessions, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, Chairman of the Committee, who also acknowledged the State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi, for his quality service delivery and close collaboration with the legislature, which has bolstered support for housing development across Ogun State.

While defending the budget proposals of his Ministry and its affiliated agencies, including the State Housing Corporation and other housing projects, Jagunmolu Omoniyi expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for their partnership with the executive arm, noting that the cooperation has advanced the socio-economic development of the State.

The Commissioner outlined plans for legacy projects in 2026, including the construction of a state-of-the-art International Conference Centre at Iperu, an Appeal Court complex in the State capital, and a 2,500-capacity Banquet Hall.

He further disclosed plans to complete and convert the abandoned Block E Complex in the State Government Secretariat into a Revenue House for the State Internal Revenue Service, as well as the construction of the Assembly and appointees’ quarters in Ibara Housing Estate and a 563-unit housing project at Siun.

Other Agencies that presented their 2026 budget proposals before the Assembly included the Bureau of Lands and Survey, represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, led by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye.

The sessions provided lawmakers the opportunity to scrutinize proposed allocations and projects, ensuring that public funds are deployed efficiently to support sustainable development and socio-economic growth.

The Assembly’s commendation underscores its commitment to supporting Ministries and Agencies that deliver impactful projects, enhance infrastructure, and strengthen ousing and urban development across Ogun State.
