NYSC Fixes January 21 for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Nationwide

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence Nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps in the Country.

Global Mirror News gathered that the announcement was made via a statement posted on the official NYSC X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.

According to the scheme, camp registration for all Prospective Corps members will begin on Wednesday, January 21, and run until midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The statement further disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps members is scheduled to hold on Friday, January 23, 2026, while the orientation exercise will officially end with a closing ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

In the same announcement, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, extended his goodwill to all prospective corps members, wishing them safe journeys to their respective states of deployment.

He also strongly advised them to avoid travelling at night, stressing the importance of personal safety during transit.

The NYSC management additionally urged all corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation timetable to ensure a smooth, orderly, and successful orientation programme Nationwide.

The NYSC scheme, established in 1973 in the aftermath of the Nigerian Civil War, is designed to promote national unity and integration.

The compulsory three-week orientation camp serves as the foundation of the one-year national service.

During the orientation period, corps members are exposed to paramilitary drills, lectures on National Development and Civic Responsibilities, Cultural and Social Activities, as well as the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme aimed at enhancing self-reliance and employability.

Global Mirror News gathered that the orientation course remains a critical platform for fostering interpersonal relationships among young Nigerians across ethnic, cultural, and religious lines, in line with the core objectives of the NYSC scheme.
