Nollywood Actor Kayode Peters Passes Away at 49
Renowned Nigerian Actor and Producer Kayode Peters has died in Canada at the age of 49. The news was confirmed by entertainment blogger Cutie Juls on Instagram, who revealed that Peters passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Comedian Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, confirmed the news to Peoples Gazette, stating he was still trying to reach Peters’ brother for further details. The exact cause of his death remains unclear.
Kayode Peters was a talented Filmmaker, Director, and Actor who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s contemporary theatre and television space.
He was known for creating and producing several well-loved projects, including the sitcom “Extended Family” and the hit comedy series “Flatmates” in the early 2000s.
Some of his notable works include “Doll House” (2015), “Dream Job” (2021), and “Crazy Grannies” (2021).
Industry Colleagues and Fans have been paying tribute to Kayode Peters on social media, remembering him as a generous, down-to-earth talent who supported young creatives and had an infectious sense of humor.
Kayode Peters was born on September 25, 1975, in Ibadan, Nigeria. He was married to Alexander, with whom he had three children, although some sources suggest he was married to Tayo Sobola, but this has been disputed.
Peters was a Graduate of English Language from the University of Lagos and had also earned a Master’s Degree in film and Television Production from the University of Greenwich, UK.
