Nigerian Players Pay Tribute to Deceased Liverpool Star Diogo Jota
The Football World is mourning the loss of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Nigerian players have taken to social media to express their sadness at the “unimaginable” loss of the celebrated Portuguese soccer star.
Jota, 28, and his brother Andre were involved in a fatal car accident on the A-52 highway in northwestern Spain, near the city of Zamora.
The car crashed and burst into flames, resulting in the deaths of both occupants.
The incident occurred just 11 days after Jota’s wedding to his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, in Porto, Portugal.
Terem Moffi: “This can’t even be real life,” the Super Eagles striker wrote on Instagram.
Mikel Obi: “There are no words, RIP Diogo,” the Super Eagles legend posted alongside a picture of Jota.
