NDLEA Nabs Notorious Drug Kingpin 12 Years After Killing Three Officers
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended long-fugitive drug lord Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” more than 12 years after he allegedly orchestrated the killing of three NDLEA Officers in Ogun State, Global Mirror News reports.
Jimoh was arrested on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Owode, Ogun State, following a precision intelligence-led operation by NDLEA tactical teams.
During the operation, Officers recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis, from his hideout.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi told Global Mirror News that Jimoh had been on the agency’s wanted list since June 15, 2014, when he allegedly mobilized armed thugs to attack Officers attempting to arrest him.
The attack resulted in the deaths of three Officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure.
“Kanmo-Kanmo is notorious for drug trafficking, evading arrest, and mobilizing armed thugs against law enforcement.
His arrest demonstrates that no fugitive can escape justice indefinitely,” Babafemi said.
Jimoh’s criminal activities had been under NDLEA surveillance for years.
In a previous raid on August 12, 2023, officers discovered 139 sacks of skunk (1,922 kilograms) at his Ado-Odo residence, though he managed to evade arrest. The property was later forfeited to the Federal Government.
The NDLEA has simultaneously carried out Nationwide operations targeting drug trafficking. Recent seizures reported to Global Mirror News include:
Edo State: 320 kilograms of skunk and cannabis seeds; suspect Isihor Edika, 53, arrested.
Abuja (FCT): 2.2 kilograms of skunk and cannabis oil recovered from Yinka Agboola, 44, linked to online drug sales; Tordue Pius Richard, 30, also arrested with cocaine and skunk.
Lagos: 118.1 kilograms of skunk seized from Dauda Kareem and Saheed Obisesan.
Enugu: 116 kilograms of skunk recovered from a warehouse in New Market.
Delta State: Two suspects caught transporting tramadol, codeine syrup, diazepam, swinol, and Molly along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway.
Oyo State: Multiple arrests in Ibadan with skuchies, skunk, and synthetic cannabis; 52,430 tramadol and bromazepam pills seized.
Kwara State: 387 kilograms of skunk seized in Ilorin.
Jigawa State: Ex-convict Gaddafi Ammani, 26, and accomplice Ahmed Sani, 32, arrested with skunk and exol-5 pills; one officer injured during the operation.
Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), NDLEA Chairman, told Global Mirror News that the arrests are a victory for justice.
“This arrest closes a painful chapter dating back to 2014. Time does not erase crime, and the long arm of the law eventually catches up,” he said.
The NDLEA continues to intensify nationwide operations to dismantle drug networks, disrupt illicit supply chains, and bring long-wanted fugitives to justice.
