Man Arrested in Ogun for Assaulting Wife in Viral Video

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Fatai Quadri, for physically assaulting his wife, Rukayat Quadri, in an incident that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media.
The assault, which occurred on September 15, 2025, in Illese-Ijebu, Ijebu-Ode, sparked outrage after the disturbing footage showed the victim being brutalized during a domestic dispute.
According to a statement by the Police, the incident was reported to the Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the altercation stemmed from allegations of infidelity and the suspect’s controversial decision to transfer ownership of a 10-room en-suite apartment, jointly built with his wife, to another woman.
The victim is currently receiving medical attention, while the suspect remains in custody. Police authorities confirmed that he will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act and reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for domestic violence, warning that offenders will face the full weight of the law.
He urged members of the public to report cases of domestic abuse promptly, stressing that “silence only empowers perpetrators.”
The case has once again ignited calls for stronger action against domestic violence in Nigeria, where advocacy groups continue to press for more robust protections for victims.
