A devastating pair of road crashes hit Lagos State over the weekend, leaving two people seriously injured and three others shaken but unhurt.
The accidents occurred in the Mile 2 and Surulere areas, highlighting the persistent threat of road carnage in the State.
According to eyewitnesses, a Toyota Camry careened out of control and slammed into a stationary Scania truck at Olohunsogo Bus Stop, inward Mile 2.
The impact was severe, leaving the Camry driver and a passenger badly injured.
LASTMA officials sprang into action, rushing the victims to Ademola Hospital for urgent medical attention.
In a separate incident, a commercial Mazda bus suffered a brake failure and crashed into the median in the BRT lane at Stadium Hotel area in Surulere.
Miraculously, the unconscious driver and two passengers survived the crash, although they were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has once again sounded the alarm on the dangers of reckless driving and poor vehicle maintenance.
LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, attributed the crashes to excessive speeding and brake failure, emphasizing the need for motorists to prioritize road safety.
