Lagos Police Open Probe Into Pastor Chris Okafor Over Sexual Misconduct Claims
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an official investigation into the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, following a wave of sexual misconduct allegations that have gained traction across social media platforms.
The investigation was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to invite the Cleric for questioning.
The directive also includes summoning alleged victims and potential witnesses to provide statements to aid the inquiry.
Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the command acted in response to widespread public concern, even though no formal complaint had initially been filed.
According to her, the Police are taking proactive steps to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
“The Commissioner of Police has instructed the SCID to invite Pastor Okafor for investigation despite the absence of a formal petition,” Adebisi stated, adding that witnesses would be identified and interviewed to support a thorough and impartial probe.
The Police action follows mounting accusations from several women, including actress Doris Ogala, who has publicly alleged a long-standing inappropriate relationship with the Pastor.
In a series of emotional Instagram videos posted on December 14, 2025, Ogala claimed the relationship began in 2017 and spanned nearly a decade, during which she accused Okafor of making unfulfilled promises of marriage and engaging in conduct that allegedly contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.
Public scrutiny intensified after Okafor, during a church service, offered a public apology, kneeling on the pulpit and admitting to what he described as past “mistakes,” while asking for forgiveness from congregants.
The apology came shortly after his marriage to a new wife, Pearl, on December 16, 2025, in a ceremony attended by several prominent Christian leaders.
Adebisi further disclosed that she personally reached out to a YouTuber who had interviewed some of the alleged victims in order to establish direct contact with witnesses relevant to the investigation.
Additional accusers have since emerged, alleging manipulation, infidelity, and sexual misconduct.
One of them, identified as Okafor’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, accused the Pastor of deception, infidelity, and physical abuse.
Despite the growing list of allegations, some members of the Mountain of Liberation church have rallied behind the Pastor, dismissing the claims as attempts to extort money or tarnish his image.
Police authorities have emphasized that the investigation is driven by public interest and media reports, noting that no official petition had been submitted before CP Jimoh’s intervention.
The Lagos SCID is expected to provide updates as questioning begins and witness statements are recorded.
