Lagos Orders Postmortem as Nine-Month-Old Twins Die After Routine Immunisation

Global Mirror News gathered that the Lagos State Government has ordered a postmortem examination following the deaths of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who reportedly passed away about 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a Primary Health Care Center in the State.

The incident gained widespread public attention after the twins’ father, Mr. Samuel Alozie, popularly known as Promise Samuel on TikTok, shared emotional videos online showing the bodies of his sons in separate body bags while recounting the events surrounding their deaths.

In a follow-up video that went viral on Thursday, Mr. Alozie said he took the twins for their scheduled immunisation on the morning of December 24, 2025. According to him, the children became unusually weak shortly after receiving the injections.

“They could not eat, they could not play, they could not even disturb as they used to. They were just weak,” he said.

Mr. Alozie explained that a nurse at the health facility advised him to administer paracetamol if the children developed a fever. He said he and his wife followed the instruction and also bathed the twins in cold water when their condition appeared to worsen, but there was no improvement.

“The immunisation was done on the 24th of December in the morning, and by the morning of the 25th of December, they died. After the injection, they became very weak. They couldn’t eat, they couldn’t play, they couldn’t behave normally. The two of them died at the same time,” he narrated.

The grieving father maintained that the twins were healthy before the immunisation and noted that he had consistently ensured they received all routine vaccines from birth.

“I’m confused. How can I lose two children at once—identical twins I suffered so much for? They were just nine months old and not sick. I only took them for immunisation to do the right thing,” he lamented.

He also raised concerns that the nurse who administered the vaccines was not the regular health worker who usually attended to his children. Mr. Alozie further rejected an initial explanation allegedly given at the health centre suggesting that the deaths might have been caused by “food bacteria.”

“The Nurse said it was food bacteria. How can food I’ve been giving them from one month to nine months suddenly kill both children at the same time?” he queried.

Confirming the development, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, told Global Mirror News gathered in a phone interview that investigations were ongoing and that a postmortem had been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

“We sympathise deeply with the family and understand their grief. However, we must allow due process. The Police are investigating, and the State is also conducting its own inquiry. We are awaiting the postmortem findings,” Mustafa said.

He added that the vaccine administered had been given to many children before and after the twins without any reported complications, stressing that the bodies had been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) morgue.

“Once the postmortem results are available, the Government will communicate its findings appropriately,” he assured.

Despite these assurances, Mr. Alozie expressed fears that the investigation might be compromised to protect the Government-owned Health facility. He appealed for legal and human rights support to pursue justice for his late children.

“This is Government to Government. I don’t have the money to fight this alone. If you are a lawyer or a human rights advocate, please help me. I want justice for my children,” he pleaded.
