Kogi Police Deploy Tactical Units, Intensify Security Measures for Peaceful Christmas Celebrations

The Kogi State Police Command has announced the deployment of a wide range of Police personnel and tactical units across the State as part of comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and crime-free Christmas celebration.
According to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Officers drawn from conventional Police Divisions, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Motor Traffic Department (MTD), the Safer Highway Patrol, and other specialized tactical formations have been fully mobilised and strategically positioned across key locations.
These include highways, major towns, places of worship, recreational centres, markets, and other public spaces expected to witness increased human and vehicular movement during the festive period.
The CP explained that the proactive deployment is aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing criminal activities, and providing a safe environment for residents and visitors throughout the Yuletide season.
He noted that special attention has been given to flashpoints and major transit routes to curb traffic-related incidents, armed robbery, and other forms of crime often associated with festive travels.
While addressing Officers and men of the command, the Police Chief charged them to exhibit the highest level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized that personnel must remain courteous and respectful in their dealings with members of the public, while also being firm, vigilant, and civil in enforcing the law.
The CP warned against any form of misconduct, stressing that erring officers would be sanctioned in line with Police regulations.
The Commissioner of Police also appealed to residents of Kogi State to be law-abiding and security-conscious throughout the festive period.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements, persons, or activities to nearby Police formations or through designated emergency channels.
Highlighting the importance of Community collaboration, the CP called on religious leaders, community heads, and residents to work closely with security Agencies, particularly in safeguarding churches and other places of worship during Christmas services.
He stressed that timely and credible information from the public remains critical to effective crime prevention.
Reaffirming the commitment of the command, the CP assured that the Kogi State Police Command would continue to sustain proactive policing strategies to protect lives and property before, during, and after the Christmas celebrations, ensuring that residents enjoy the season in peace and safety.
