Kebbi Tragedy: Police Nab Husband Over Wife’s Mysterious Death
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, in connection with the death of his wife, 25-year-old Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the State.
Global Mirror News gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, at about 6:30 a.m., sparking concern among residents of the Rural Community.
In a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, January 16, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed that preliminary findings linked the suspect to the fatal incident following a domestic altercation.
According to the Police, the suspect allegedly fled the village after the incident but was later traced and arrested through sustained investigation and credible intelligence provided by members of the Community.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Mohammed-Hadejia, has since ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough investigation, with the aim of ensuring diligent prosecution in line with the law.
The Police spokesperson called on residents to remain law-abiding and to promptly report incidents and suspicious activities, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to maintaining peace and security across Kebbi State.
