Journalist Ojo Peter Shot Dead by Armed Robbers in Ibadan

Ojo Peter, a seasoned journalist with Daily Monitor, was tragically shot dead by suspected armed robbers along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on August 18, 2025.

Peter, who was returning from work, was robbed and shot in the back by the notorious gang operating with a motorcycle.

According to his brother, Peter Enahoro, Ojo Peter was hale and healthy before his life was cut short by the armed robbers in broad daylight.

Enahoro expressed shock and sadness over the incident, saying, “He was shot in the back, and his phone got damaged, but the police managed to reach out to us through it.”

The Police have arrested one of the suspects, Lateef Atanda, who confessed to the crime.

Atanda revealed that he and his accomplice, Monday, had been terrorizing the area, targeting POS operators and people coming out of banks with bags.

During the arrest, Monday was neutralized by the Police after attempting to resist arrest.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, stated that the duo had been terrorizing Ibadan metropolis and had robbed and shot a victim at Anfani Junction.

The Police are continuing their investigation, and further developments will be made public.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of Journalists and citizens in the Area.

The Police are working to ensure justice is served and to prevent such incidents in the future.
