The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to all candidates intending to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) programmes, urging them to ensure that their National Identification Number (NIN) details are accurate before creating registration profiles.

In a weekly bulletin released on its website, the board emphasized that errors in NIN information could lead to avoidable complications during both registration and the examination itself.

“Candidates are strongly advised to first verify that their National Identification Number details are accurate and correctly captured before initiating profile creation,” the bulletin stated.

Incorrect NIN information could result in unnecessary challenges during registration and the examination process.”

JAMB further reminded candidates that registration for the 2026 UTME and DE could commence at any time, and encouraged them to use the registration period to ensure that personal information is consistent across all relevant databases.

Highlighting the limited opportunities for data corrections, the board cautioned: “Candidates are therefore advised to take personal responsibility for the accuracy of their details from the start, as not all requests for corrections may be accommodated.”

The Board concluded by calling on candidates to cooperate fully with the registration process to ensure a smooth, transparent, and error-free 2026 UTME and DE exercise.
