JAMB Debunks Fake UTME Postponement Notice, Says Exams Will Hold as Planned

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed reports circulating online that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been postponed, describing the claim as false and misleading.

Global Mirror News gathered that the Board issued a statement on Saturday warning candidates and the general public to ignore the purported press release, insisting that all arrangements for the examination remain unchanged.

According to the board, the fake notice did not originate from JAMB.

“The attention of the board has been drawn to a malicious press release claiming that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. Candidates and members of the public are hereby informed that the statement is fake and did not emanate from us. Kindly disregard it. All activities concerning the 2026 UTME continue as scheduled,” the statement read.

JAMB maintained that the 2026 UTME will still take place between April 16 and April 25, 2026, as earlier announced.

The clarification comes days after the 2026 mock UTME, held on March 28, experienced technical difficulties in several Computer-Based Test centres across the Country.

Global Mirror News further gathered that 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, while 152,586 candidates successfully sat for the test in 989 CBT centres Nationwide.

The Examination Body disclosed that more than 20 centres affected by technical issues have now been removed from the list of approved centres due to inadequate facilities and poor performance.

JAMB also warned candidates against fraudsters operating on social media platforms, especially WhatsApp, who claim they can help candidates increase or manipulate their UTME scores.

The Board described such promises as criminal and deceptive, warning that any candidate caught engaging in score inflation schemes risks having their registration cancelled or examination results withheld.
