IMEKO-AFON COMMUNITY CELEBRATES DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS COMMISSIONING

Imeko-Afon Local Government Commissioning

The Hon. Theophilus Aremu Olorode-led Administration of Imeko Afon Local Government has today, officially commissioned a series of transformative projects aimed at improving infrastructure, service delivery, and the socio-economic wellbeing of residents across the local government.

Olorode, while delivering his welcome address, attributed the successes of the projects first to God almighty and emphatically, the selfless support of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, whose leadership style, has been an epitome for emulation.

He also appreciated the concerted efforts of all the traditional rulers, community leaders, and entire staff of the local government in achieving this feat.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, who represented the Governor in commissioning the various projects, commended the Executive Governor, Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for providing the necessary supports for Hon. Olorode to perform at this maximal level.

He further commended the Chairman for making Judicious use of the funds accrued to his Local Government for the good of General Populace and the development of his Council Area.

Speaking earlier at the occasion, The Executive Chairman, Imeko Afon Local Government, Hon. Olorode said the projects were a testament to his administration’s resolve to bring governance closer to the people since assuming office in November 2024.

In addition, Olorode said these project interventions are not only physical structures but also life-changing projects designed to uplift the lives of the people.

“Today is not just about buildings, roads, or infrastructures being unveiled, but also about a renewed hope, a bold statement of progress, and a firm commitment to the future of our people,” he stated.

Hon. Theophilus Aremu Olorode reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the momentum of development across all Wards and Communities in the Local Government and urged residents of the Local Government to, please take ownership of these facilities, ensure their proper maintenance and safeguard them against misuse.”

During the course of the commissioning programme, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olorode magnanimously empowered 200 identified less privileged and vulnerable across the ten wards of the Local Government area. Each of the beneficiaries got a cash donation.

In his own response after the commissioning of classrooms at Oke-Agbede, HRM, Oba Adewale Pascal Ayinla Olorode, the Alagbede of Oke-Agbede expressed gratitude to Prince Dapo Abiodun and the Executive Chairman of Imeko Afon Local Government for the impactful projects executed in Oke-Agbede community.

For the records, the projects executed includes:

  • Renovation of carrier officer’s building
  • Provision of furniture for political functionaries and career officers
  • Purchase of a utility vehicle for the top career officers in the Local Government.
  • Repair of Legislative Bus.
  • Installation of Solar inverter system (5KVA) at the Local Secretariat.
  • A Renovation of the Supervisors building.
  • Sinking of Bore hole at Afon, Agberiodo and Idofa.
  • Purchase of office equipments for some departments.
  • Construction of lock up shops at Ilara.
  • Construction of lock up shops at Imeko.
  • Repair of road plants (payloader, grader, Roller and Tipper.
  • Renovation of blocks of classrooms in Oke Agbede, Iwoye and Idi-Ayin

The event, which drew dignitaries including representatives of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, traditional rulers, political leaders, and members of the community, was described as a “renewed hope” for the people of Imeko Afon.
