Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian on Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway

A yet-to-be-identified pedestrian has been killed in a hit-and-run incident along the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State.
The tragic accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Day near Odogbolu Junction, inbound Ijebu-Ode.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi.
According to Akinbiyi, the driver of the vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene before emergency responders could arrive.
Images obtained from the location showed the victim’s body lying by the roadside after the collision.
TRACE officials said preliminary findings indicated that the pedestrian was struck by a fast-moving vehicle, which did not stop to render assistance.
Efforts to identify the vehicle or driver were ongoing at the time of the initial report.
In a later update, Akinbiyi disclosed that the family of the deceased had come forward to retrieve the body for burial.
“The earlier reported hit-and-run at Odogbolu Junction has been evacuated by his family members for burial,” he said.
The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and hit-and-run cases on major highways in Ogun State, especially during festive periods when traffic volume increases.
