Heartbreak in Osun: Nation Mourns as Slain FRSC Officer and Daughter Are Laid to Rest
Emotional scenes unfolded in the Osogbo township on Friday as scores of family members, colleagues and sympathisers gathered to witness the final burial rites for Ms. Lasisi Oluwamayokun, a Senior Officer with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and her young daughter, Adesewa, whose lives were tragically cut short late last year.
The burial service was held at the cemetery of St. John’s Anglican Church, Ita-Olookan, where the caskets of the mother and daughter were lowered amid poignant lamentations and visible grief from mourners.
Ms. Oluwamayokun, 38, and Adesewa were reported missing on November 2, 2025, after leaving their home in Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Their disappearance sparked National concern, prompting an extensive search by the Nigeria Police Force and the FRSC.
Investigations later revealed that the victims were lured to Osun State where they were murdered.
Victor Fajemirokun, described as the deceased officer’s partner, was arrested in connection with the case.
Police publicly paraded him alongside two suspected traditional healers, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo.
The circumstances of the killings have shocked the Nation, drawing renewed calls from citizens for justice and improved safety for public servants.
Among mourners at the funeral were FRSC personnel who paid tribute to Ms. Oluwamayokun’s dedication to duty and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of both mother and child.
Police investigations continue as authorities seek to fully unravel the events leading to this tragic incident.
