GROUP URGES SANWO-OLU TO SUSPEND LASUSTECH VC

A Civil Society Group, United Action for Democracy (UAD), has called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to immediately suspend the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, over allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.

According to the group, Odusanya is facing allegations of gross violation of Lagos State Procurement Law, inflating contracts, siphoning public funds, and diverting funds earmarked for academic accreditation, amounting to over N2 billion.

The UAD, in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, on August 13, 2025, claimed that the allegations are being probed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other Security Agencies.

The group warned that if Odusanya is not suspended, it could lead to mass protests and unrest among students, academic and non-academic staff, and other stakeholders.

The UAD is urging Sanwo-Olu to take the following actions:

  • Suspend Odusanya as Vice-Chancellor
  • Appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor to provide interim leadership
  • Conduct a full forensic audit of the alleged N2 billion misappropriated funds
  • Protect whistleblowers and staff who have provided critical information regarding the matter.

The group believes that Sanwo-Olu’s decisive action would uphold the values of accountability, transparency, and ethical consciousness in the Institution.
