Gov. Abiodun Approves Sagamu–Ode, Ajaka, Ogijo Roads, Commissions Sagamu–Ayepe Road to Boost Development
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday December 22, approved major road projects in Sagamu Local Government Area, including the Sagamu–Ode Road, Fadebo Street Road, Ajaka Road, and Likosi–Ogijo Road, while commissioning the newly completed Sagamu–Ayepe Road.
The move underscores his administration’s commitment to using infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth and improved connectivity.
According to a Global Mirror News report gathered from the commissioning event, Governor Abiodun described road infrastructure as a critical driver of economic activity, noting that the Sagamu–Ayepe Road links the town to Odogbolu and several densely populated communities.
“This road is an extremely important economic corridor, and that is why we have prioritised it,” he said, emphasizing that despite inheriting a backlog of neglected roads, his administration continues to invest heavily in construction and rehabilitation projects.
Beyond roads, Governor Abiodun highlighted his Government’s interventions in Health, Education, Housing, and Sports, stressing that the administration remains focused on delivering tangible dividends of democracy. “We will not be distracted by rabble-rousers. Our focus remains governance and improving the quality of life of our people,” he added.
Hon. Jubril Odulate, Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, said the Ayepe Road had been abandoned for years and was in a deplorable state before the State Government’s intervention.
He noted that the reconstruction aligns with the ISEYA development agenda and added that the Local Government complemented the effort through the construction of Awokoya Road.
Oba Musliu Soile, representing the Akarigbo of Remoland, described the project as a major relief for residents, saying it would ease hardship and boost commercial activities.
Alhaji Shamseeden Apelogun, National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Repairer and Riders Association (ACOMORAN), also praised the State Government, highlighting that the improved road network would reduce hardship for riders, stimulate economic activities, and attract more investors.
Governor Abiodun’s approval of these strategic road projects demonstrates his administration’s focus on ensuring robust infrastructure drives socio-economic growth and opens new economic corridors across Ogun State.
