Gov. Abiodun Appoints New Permanent Secretaries, Principals-General, Headteachers-General

In a decisive move to reinforce administrative efficiency, leadership continuity and effective policy implementation across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has approved the appointment of nine (9) new Permanent Secretaries, alongside two (2) Principals-General and four (4) Headteachers-General in the State’s Public Service.

The appointments were formally announced in a Press Statement issued by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who disclosed that the Governor acted in accordance with the provisions of Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

He noted that the selections were guided by merit, professionalism, inclusiveness and cognate experience acquired over years of service within the Ogun State Civil and Public Service.

According to Mr. Onasanya, the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries were carefully chosen from among serving Directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme.

The programme, he explained, serves as a structured leadership grooming platform from which top-level appointments into the public service are made.

The nine newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
Mr. Abdul-Azeez Oludare Ajidele, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Justice

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Yetunde Soyoye-Baker, Director of Agriculture and State Coordinating Director, Cash Transfer Unit

Mrs. Adebimpe Foluso Obienu, Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice

Dr. (Mrs.) Kafayat Modupe Lawal, Executive Secretary, Alternate Medicine Board

Mr. Ahmed Bayo Adetona, Director of Audit, Office of the Auditor-General (State)

Mr. Idowu Oladapo Onasanya, Director of Administration and Supplies, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

Mr. Olalekan Peter Taiwo, Director of Payment, State Treasury Office

In the same vein, Governor Abiodun also approved the appointment of two Principals-General and four Headteachers-General to fill vacant positions within the top management cadre of the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), as part of efforts to further strengthen administrative processes in the education sector.

The newly appointed Principals-General are:
Mr. Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi – Remo Division

Mr. Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi – Ijebu Division

The new Headteachers-General are:
Mr. Benjamin Olusegun Alonge – Ijebu Division

Mrs. Aminat Folake Busari – Remo Division

Mr. Olusegun Nathaniel Akapo – Yewa Division

Mrs. Folake Omolara Onabanjo – Egba Division

Mr. Onasanya explained that the education sector appointments followed a rigorous and transparent selection process.

This included oral interviews and an extensive screening exercise involving the inspection and assessment of schools headed by shortlisted candidates.

Evaluation criteria covered academic performance in external examinations and competitions, school tone and discipline, statutory records, staff relations, maintenance of facilities, leadership competence and personal attributes.


While congratulating the appointees, the Head of Service charged them to demonstrate utmost dedication, absolute devotion and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.

He urged them to pursue excellence relentlessly and position themselves as key stakeholders and contributors to the developmental aspirations of Ogun State, in line with the administration’s “Building Our Future Together” Agenda.

Mr. Onasanya added that the swearing-in ceremony for the new appointees would be conducted by Governor Dapo Abiodun at a date to be announced.
