“From Funeral Journey to Second Chance”: Woman Revives After Ambulance Hits Pothole

A dramatic incident in India has left many stunned after a woman earlier declared brain dead reportedly showed signs of life while being transported for burial when the ambulance carrying her body hit a pothole.

According to reports gathered by Global Mirror News, the woman, Vinita Shukla, a head copyist at the Pilibhit district court in Uttar Pradesh, had initially fallen critically ill at her residence.

Her husband, Kuldeep Shukla, rushed her to a government hospital in Pilibhit, but due to the severity of her condition, doctors referred her to Bareilly for advanced medical care.

At a private hospital in Bareilly, Vinita was placed on ventilator support. However, doctors later informed her husband that her condition had deteriorated beyond recovery and that she was effectively brain dead. The family was reportedly advised to take her home, with doctors explaining that the outcome would become clear once the ventilator was removed.

Despite Kuldeep’s plea for doctors to continue treatment overnight, the hospital maintained its position the next morning and asked that she be taken home.

With the grim news conveyed to relatives in Pilibhit, preparations for her final rites began as family members gathered in grief, awaiting the arrival of her body.

Kuldeep then set out for Pilibhit with Vinita in an ambulance. But in an unexpected twist, the vehicle hit a pothole near Hafizganj in Bareilly, causing a sudden jolt.

Moments after the shock, those inside the ambulance noticed what appeared to be signs of life in Vinita. Shocked but hopeful, the family immediately diverted to a private hospital in Pilibhit for emergency attention.

Initially, doctors at the hospital were reportedly reluctant to admit her, but after insistence from the family, she was eventually examined and placed under treatment.

Medical intervention soon began to show results as Vinita gradually regained responsiveness and started recovering.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Rakesh Singh, who treated her, later disclosed that doctors suspected she might have been suffering from complications linked to a possible snake bite. Based on that suspicion, anti-venom injections were administered alongside other supportive treatments.

Within about 24 hours, her condition began to improve significantly. She was later referred to neurology specialists in Lucknow for further evaluation.

After nearly 13 days of treatment, Vinita made a full recovery and has since returned home, resuming normal life.

Family members have described the experience as nothing short of a miracle, while medical professionals involved in the case have also received praise from residents across the city for their role in her recovery.
