Former LG Vice Chairmen Hold Ogun General Assembly, Appoint New State Executives
The Ogun State Chapter of the Forum of Former Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria on Thursday, 29th January 2026, held its General Assembly Meeting at the Conference Hotel, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, bringing together former elected Vice Chairmen from across the state.
The meeting, which was hosted by Hon. Ishaq Olanrewaju Bada, former Vice Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government and Southwest Coordinator of the National Body, focused on unity, restructuring, welfare advocacy, and strategic positioning of members ahead of future political engagements.
In his remarks, Hon. Ishaq Bada, who served as the outgoing Ogun State Coordinator, reflected on the journey of the forum since 2017, noting that the platform had been sustained for years through personal sacrifice, commitment, and collective resolve despite the absence of formal structure at inception.
He emphasized the unresolved issue of non-payment of severance and furniture allowance owed to former Vice Chairmen of the 2016–2019 set and others by the current Ogun State Government, describing it as a matter of justice, dignity, and respect for public service.
He also paid tribute to late members Hon. Bolanle Bella and Hon. Taofeek Alani Soremekun (Mililo), who passed on without receiving their entitlements, urging the forum to sustain the advocacy until justice is achieved.
Hon. Bada further disclosed his recent transition to the national level as Southwest Coordinator, stating that he accepted the responsibility with humility, without personal lobbying, and committed himself to supporting the Ogun State chapter in his new capacity.
Following deliberations, the General Assembly ratified a new Ogun State Working Committee to pilot the affairs of the forum.

The newly appointed officers include:
State Coordinator: Hon. Badrudeen Akinola from Ogun west senatorial district of the state
Secretary: Hon. Olanrewaju Adesegun Kolade, from Ogun east section of the state
Other members of the State Working Committee were also duly selected in line with inclusiveness and representation.
The Assembly resolved to strengthen internal cohesion, maintain inclusiveness across LGAs and LCDAs, and sustain collective engagement with relevant authorities on members’ welfare. A communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting, while the full list of the state executives is to be forwarded to the national secretariat.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment to unity, democratic values, and the continuous advancement of the interests of former Vice Chairmen in Ogun State and beyond.
