FG Launches Nationwide Real-Time Online Classes for Secondary Schools

The Federal Government has formally launched Inspire Live(s), a Digital Learning Platform offering real-time online classes to Secondary School Students across Nigeria, marking a major step toward modernizing the Country’s Education System.

The initiative, developed by the Federal Ministry of Education, is aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to boost learning access for millions of students, especially those in underserved and remote communities.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, said the programme was designed to bridge the gaps created by limited teacher availability and frequent interruptions in physical learning.

Classes Hold Monday to Friday
The Inspire Live(s) platform currently serves Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) students. Lessons are delivered live by certified Master Yeachers via Cisco Webex, running from 8:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The subjects offered on the platform include:
JSS: Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, French, Physical Education, Civic Education, Religious Studies, History and Business Studies.

SSS: Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education and Automobile Mechanics.

States Directed to Appoint Focal Officers
To ensure effective implementation, the Ministry has directed State Commissioners for Education to appoint State Focal Officers who will coordinate the Digital Learning Programme at the State level.

School Principals have also been instructed to register their institutions through official Inspire Live(s) support channels and to ensure that students have access to basic ICT equipment and reliable internet connectivity.

Boriowo stressed that the online classes are open to both public and private schools, urging principals to disseminate information widely and encourage full participation.

Making Quality Education Accessible
The Ministry explained that the platform was introduced to tackle longstanding challenges in Nigeria’s education sector — such as teacher shortages, inconsistent access to quality teaching and disruptions caused by insecurity and school closures.

“Inspire Live(s) is designed to democratize access to quality education so that no child is left behind, regardless of location or circumstance,” the statement added.

Rollout to Extend to Primary Schools
The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, confirmed that the programme will be expanded in phases to include all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.

He said the Ministry is committed to strengthening digital infrastructure Nationwide and partnering with State Governments to ensure long-term sustainability of the initiative.

The launch of Inspire Live(s) is widely seen as one of the Federal Government’s boldest steps toward repositioning education through technology and improving learning outcomes for future generations.
